Grand Opening Celebration

Last week was full of cheery optimism. Between the thank you cards and emails that came after the party on New Year’s Eve, a series of successful meetings with new friends and potential clients, and all the wishes for a happy birthday*, I can’t think of a better way to start 2010.

Thanks again to everyone who came to our Grand Opening Celebration. Don’t forget to do your part and send at least two good referrals. As you know, Milestone Marketing Associates is a full-service marketing company, and we specialize in software businesses.

Despite our unique position in the market, and considering the fact that Sarasota is not a hotbed for technology businesses, I am often asked, “What’s a good referral for you?” The best answer I can give you is a friend. It doesn’t really matter what kind of business they’re in or even if they’re the “decision-maker” in the company.

The point is I am going to call them. When I talk to them I am going to ask them about their business. My goal is to find out two things; first, whether or not we can help them with their marketing (given our broad range of services there’s a good chance we can) and second, who does your friend know that I should meet.

As a service provider, our business is built on relationships. To provide the kind of service we’re most passionate about – strategic marketing planning – we require a certain level of intimacy with our clients. That’s because we must obtain a thorough and clear understanding of your business before we can develop a marketing plan that will help you reach your goals. It’s because of that intimacy that we’re not interested in working with hundreds or thousands of clients. Likewise our virtual company is not burdened with excessive operating expenses so we have the financial freedom to be choosey. And because we have that freedom, we choose to work with people we like – people like you and your friends.
