World of Concrete
After 14 years of traveling to Las Vegas for the World of Concrete show you would think I would jump at the chance to stay home. I guess old habits really do die hard because I’m getting on a plane tomorrow morning and flying to Sin City for WOC number 15.
I have to say it’s nice to be going as an attendee rather than an exhibitor. This year it’s just a quick 4-day trip rather than the usual 10-days in Vegas to allow time for setting up the booth, working the show, and tearing down. If you’ve never been, trust me when I say 10 days is way too much time in that town.
Years ago the trip would last at least two weeks because we would actually drive from Sarasota to Las Vegas. When you drive across the country for the first time it’s truly a great experience. When you get to the point when you can make it in 48 hours with two drivers going non-stop, it’s time to ship the booth and fly.
Are you wondering what the World of Concrete show has to do with Milestone Marketing Associates? There are two reasons why I’m going this year.
My first goal is to drum up some business. In fact this marketing project already started last year with a preshow letter-mailing to all the technology exhibitors introducing the company. I followed up the letters with phone calls, and now I plan to visit every construction software company on the show floor.
As you know we specialize in marketing software businesses and after 14 years of exhibiting side-by-side with a few dozen construction software vendors, I know many of those business owners and they know me. I’m banking on my WOC street credibility and hope to leverage those relationships into some new clients.
The other reason to attend the show is networking. First and foremost I have many former coworkers from all over the country that will also be in Las Vegas this week. This is a great opportunity to reconnect with old friends, tell them about the new business, and remind them that we appreciate their support.
In addition to all my old work buddies, I also have a significant number of business colleagues who will be at the show; show management people, business partners and vendors, even the official show contractor. I look forward to catching up with everyone, telling them about Milestone Marketing Associates, and soliciting their support to grow this business.
Until next week,
Matthew Anderson, President
Milestone Marketing Associates, Inc.
