It's the official start of summer

Happy Memorial Day!

It’s the official start of summer, and school lets out this Friday. Can you believe 2010 is nearly half over? It’s amazing how times flies when you’re having fun.

Despite fighting a nasty cold for the last couple of weeks, I am pleased to report more progress on multiple fronts including significant event-planning headway for the Suncoast Technology Forum and our corporate sponsorship of The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce 2010 TechFast Breakfast Summer Series.

I recently volunteered to lead the events committee for STF, a local organization for technology-related businesses, formerly called 82 Degrees Tech. Since then I met with the board of directors and proposed an event marketing plan consisting of monthly networking meetings, quarterly educational events, and annual events.

With the board’s approval and support I am now rebuilding the events committee, researching meeting locations, and working on an annual events calendar. The plan calls for the first monthly networking luncheon to be held in July so we have our work cut out for us.

In technology-related news, Milestone Marketing Associates has signed on to be a corporate sponsor of TechFast Breakfast. I’ve been eyeing this opportunity for some time now and finally had a chance to pull the trigger.

This is a significant step for Milestone as we’ve not yet seized an opportunity to “exhibit” at a local networking event. And since a display table is included in the corporate sponsorship, we’re looking forward to flexing our event marketing muscle. Anyone who attended our Grand Opening Celebration five months ago knows that we just love events. Hope to see you there!
