Memorial Day

I hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend with their friends and family. I’m looking ahead to see what’s on my calendar this week, and the big thing that jumps out is Mia’s graduation.

Of course Mia is only five years old and she’s “graduating” from preschool, but this is a big deal. It’s a big deal for Mia because she’s chomping at the bit to start kindergarten and attend “big-girl” school with her older sister.

It’s a big deal for her mother and me because our little girl is growing up as you can clearly see in this recent school photo:

I think the photographer was playing a cruel joke by staging Mia with the letter block – a not-too-subtle reminder that our baby is no longer a baby. Before we know it she’ll be graduating from high school.
