Through the ADDY Glass

Posted by: on Monday, January 28, 2013

We’re coming into the home stretch of ADDY Season. The entries are all in and will be judged on Saturday. Mounted work will hang in the lobby of the Herald-Tribune for the viewing public February 4-15. There will be a gallery reception on Wednesday, February 6 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, and the gala is coming up on Thursday, February 21 at Selby Gardens.

Inspired by Alice in Wonderland, “Through the ADDY Glass” is our theme this year. The logo was designed by Louie Zuniga, a student at Ringling School of Art and Design. When we asked him about his work, Louie not only gave us permission to use the logo, he joined our committee and is designing all the graphics for the event.

As in the story, we view the ADDY Awards as a transformative experience.

The process of creating award-winning work, for example, is a journey from concept to completion that requires hard work and creativity, talent and imagination, the ability to work well with others and a willingness to go the extra mile.

Winning an ADDY can also be a transformative experience. The recognition can accelerate careers and take agencies from good to great. It’s not just flattering, not just exciting, it’s how people on our line of work view each other – our own measuring stick, through the looking glass.

I hope each of you is able to experience the creativity and excitement of the ADDY Awards. Be sure to check out the gallery at the Herald Tribune. The reception is a free event and the work will be on display for two weeks. And if you have the time and money, sign up for the gala at Selby Gardens, it’s sure to be another transformative experience.

Until next week,

Matthew Anderson, President
