Black Friday
Back in September I wrote about our custom website design process for a new client, Harry E. Robbins Associates. We offered insights into the first three steps; The Kickoff Meeting, The Wire Frame, and The Design Mock. Since then we built their new website, migrated content from their old website, and trained them on the content management system. This week we’re in the final stages; finishing touches, and a rigorous testing process, and we’re scheduled to launch on Black Friday.
From start to finish this project took four months which is about average for a project this size. While it’s certainly possible to crank out a custom website in less time, there are two factors that always come into play:
The first is content. In this case the client needed new photographs of their agents, and they have more than 200 hundred real estate listings – each with multiple files associated with them, all in a constant state of flux.
The second is bandwidth. Not the online kind, the real life kind. Avid readers may recall a blog post about Troy Robbins falling down a waterfall in Georgia shortly after we started this project. Fortunately Troy wasn’t badly hurt, but it was certainly a bump in the road for their website project.
A few weeks ago Troy’s brother, Kevin Robbins, welcomed a new addition to his family with the birth of his third child. Indeed a much happier distraction than a death-defying experience, but anyone who’s been there knows how sleepless nights with a newborn can affect your workday.
Those are examples of personal bandwidth. The Robbins team was busy at work too. In the same timeframe they added more agents, made plans to expand their office, and continued the day-to-day operations of acquiring commercial property listings and matching them up with business owners.
Having spent the last four months working with them on their website, I can say it’s truly been a pleasure working with Troy, Kevin, and Loyd. And since this Thursday is Thanksgiving, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for placing their trust in Milestone, and my desire for long relationship with Harry E. Robbins Associates.
Until next week,
Matthew Anderson, President
Milestone Marketing Associates, Inc.
P.S. Black Friday also happens to be Lee Gaines birthday. Lee, whose official title is Director of Interactive Media, is ultimately in charge of all things web-related at Milestone. Yes, that means Lee will be working the day after Thanksgiving so be sure post a special birthday wish for him today.
Happy Birthday, Lee! Thanks for all you do to make Milestone a success.
