Tree Gleaning
If you have fruit trees in your backyard, or you know someone who does, please read this week’s update about the Siesta Key Kiwanis Club’s annual tree gleaning project benefitting the All Faiths Food Bank.
For ten years the Mighty Siesta Key Kiwanis Club has gleaned backyard fruit trees every February picking thousands of pounds of citrus. It’s a wonderful service project that involves the kids from our Pine View Key Club and feeds hungry people in our community.
This year we formalized our partnership with the All Faiths Food Bank and extended the gleaning project over several weeks with a goal of collecting twelve thousand pounds of fruit. Thanks to committee chairs Doug Griffin and Bill Irish for their tireless efforts to raise awareness for the program so our club can help more people in need.
But we need your help too! Please contact our club via phone or email so we can add your backyard citrus trees to our route. Our team does the rest. We will come to you property, pick as much or as little as you wish, leave some for you if you like, and deliver your surplus fruit to the All Faiths Food Bank.

Eating fresh fruit is something most of us take for granted. Do your part to help the Siesta Key Kiwanis Club grow our annual gleaning project. It’s an easy way to help the people who need it most.
Until next week,
