Sparta Pewter
We started a new website project recently for an interesting business with locations in Sarasota and Canada. Sparta Pewter USA is not your typical promotional products company. Unlike the majority of businesses that sell advertising specialties (hats, pens, bags, mugs, shirts, etc.), Sparta Pewter manufacturers many of the products they sell right here in Sarasota.
The other thing that makes Sparta Pewter unique is the fact that they focus primarily on military markets. For example their business season kicks off with the United States Marine Corps Birthday Ball.
It never ceases to amaze me when we stumble across another unique and interesting business located in Sarasota. They readily admit that they’re one of the “best kept secrets” in town, and they wouldn’t mind getting more local recognition, but their just a quick to point how they’re different from other companies in the same business.
More than their market focus, what sets them apart is their ability to forgo small orders. They don’t get involved with minimum quantities. Instead they emphasize customization that goes beyond imprinted logos. And they’re able to provide a level of service that goes deeper into the needs of their customers. This translates into minimum sales in the thousands of dollars instead of the hundreds of dollars, which is more typical for promotional product orders.
How do these differences translate into their online marketing goals? It boils down to lead generation versus online sales. We could build a fully integrated e-commerce website for Sparta Pewter, but that’s not what they need. Instead we’re building an online product catalog that only allows their customers to shop, not to buy. The main goal of their new website is to get their visitors in touch with a salesperson.
We’re only a couple weeks into the project so we’re not ready to show any of our work, but this is a great time to acknowledge Alex Butakow from Keiser University for referring Sparta Pewter. Thank you, Alex, not only for keeping Milestone in mind, but also referring our newest client!
Until next week,
Matthew Anderson, President
