Several Milestones
Last week we announced the company’s fifth anniversary. This week we’re commemorating several annual milestones. Catherine, our older daughter, turned 12 years old on Sunday. The Siesta Key Kiwanis Club will hold its 14th Annual Installation Banquet on Wednesday. And on Friday my wife and I will celebrate our 16th wedding anniversary.
It’s always the same every year. Beginning with my wife’s birthday on September 25th, we slide right into the fourth quarter and four months of family get-togethers to honor birthdays, anniversaries, and holiday traditions. We’re fortunate to have most of our family in town, and this year we lucked out with an early dose of cooler weather.
Did everyone turn off the air conditioner and open up the windows on Sunday? After all the rain we had over the last few weeks, we were overdue for another perfect day in paradise.
From a business perspective, looking back over the last nine months, one milestone worth noting has nothing to do with any one client or particular project. Instead, for the first time in the company’s 5-year history, we eliminated the peaks and valleys.
In previous year’s we were prone to short growth spurts and sales droughts. It’s not like it can’t happen again, but it does feel like the company has matured. We certainly narrowed our focus, honed our sales pitch, and improved our processes. With any luck we’ve built a solid foundation upon which we can grow the business.
Back to the birthdays and anniversaries. Every once in a while Dana will jokingly ask if I’m writing about my wonderful wife in this blog. Let’s see if she reads all the way to the bottom this week...
Happy anniversary, honey! I love you, Dana. And I’m looking forward to celebrating 16 years of wedded bliss with you on Friday night. : )
Until next week,
Matthew Anderson, President
