Special Guest
I almost forgot to post an update this week! We’re looking forward to a special guest speaker at our Kiwanis meeting today. Larry Kelleher from Sarasota History Alive and the Sarasota County History Center will enchant us with tales from Sarasota’s past.
You’re welcome to join us. Just let me know if you’d like to attend as my guest. The Siesta Key Kiwanis Club meets every Wednesday at noon at Café Baci. Lunch is $15 dollars.
Speaking of Kiwanis, our club recently completed a merger with the Kiwanis Club of Sarasota South. By teaming up our membership grew to 42 members, and we have a host of new annual service projects geared towards helping less fortunate children in our community.
If you have spare time and talent, and you would like to volunteer for an organization that is dedicated to helping kids, then I would highly recommend Kiwanis. There are several clubs in Sarasota including the downtown club, the Longboat Key club, and the Lakewood Ranch club.
The Siesta Key club has a reputation of being the “young, fun club” in town as many of our members are working professionals rather than retirees. Women also make up more than 50% in our club, which is atypical for many Kiwanis clubs.
Let me know if you’re interested…
Until next week,
Matthew Anderson, President
