It's That Time of Year Again

On Saturday morning we unloaded an entire truckload of Girl Scout Cookies for three local troops. The cases of cookies, stacked five boxes high to be counted, inventoried, and distributed to cookie moms and dads that afternoon, filled our two-car garage. Later that evening I braved the chilly weather with my daughter Mia to work one of the first cookie booths of the season where she and her fellow Brownie sold 137 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies raising more than $600. Based on the reactions from some of the customers you’d think they’re putting drugs the Thin Mints, Samoas, and Tagalongs.

Of course both our Girl Scouts have several hundred boxes left to sell to meet their quotas so if you haven’t already ordered your favorite cookies this year please let me know and we will hook you up!

Later this week the Siesta Key Kiwanis Club is having a fundraiser of it’s own. Please consider joining us on Saturday, February 21 between 8:00am and 10:00am at the Applebee’s on Clark Road for a pancake breakfast. The cost is only $10 per person, and yours truly could be your server. The proceeds go to the Siesta Key Kiwanis Foundation, which grants thousands of dollars every year to charitable organizations that serve children in our community.
