Four More Days
Happy Memorial Day! I think most of us can agree that war sucks and should be avoided whenever possible. However, those of us who go to war on our behalf deserve our undying gratitude. Don’t just thank a veteran today. Go out of your way to show your appreciation every chance you get.
There are four more days of school left until summer break. My kids, even though they enjoy going to school, have been counting the days for the last two months. Perhaps that’s because we have so many fun things planned.
We have the first of several trips coming up in two weeks. Originally we were going to Washington DC for a family reunion, but those plans were cancelled after we purchased our plane tickets. We will still get to meet some extended family during our four-day trip, but now we’re looking forward to some sightseeing in our nation’s capital.
In July my older daughter is going on a trip to Savannah with her Girl Scout Troup. This is her incentive for selling a ridiculous amount of Girl Scout Cookies earlier this year.
And we have our big summer vacation planned in August. Over the years we have fallen in love with Lake George in upstate New York. I think we have vacationed there five times now, but it’s been a couple years since our last visit.
We’re going to spend a week in a house located on the north end of the lake, near the town of Ticonderoga, with my wife’s twin sister and older sister, their husbands, and our nephew. A full house for sure, but we will have a wonderful time boating, and fishing, and swimming, and cooking, and eating, and drinking in the serenity of the Adirondacks.
In addition to the trips we have planned, the kids will spend time in between summer camps at Girls, Inc. For camps, Catherine is taking a computer animation class at Ringling College and she is also signed up for Sarasota Crew. And Mia is joining the Sailor Circus! No wonder they’re looking forward to summer…
Until next week,
