Circus Geek

Posted by: on Sunday, June 14, 2015

As I mentioned at the end of last week’s update, there are two events scheduled this week that you may want to attend. The first event will feature Vincent Foderingham who is the VP of Risk Management for Feld Entertainment, and the second event will feature Jim McCampbell who is the Computer Animation Department Head at Ringling College of Art and Design.

Suncoast Technology Forum Techbyte Luncheon
Tuesday, June 16 from 11:30am to 1:00pm
Polo Grill and Bar in the Florida Room

The title of Mr. Foderingham’s presentation is “Risk, Cyber Risk, and Reward in the Greatest Show on Earth.” Based in Palmetto, Florida, Feld Entertainment is perhaps most widely known for their Ringling circus, but they own and produce several other major events and produce more than 5,000 shows per year worldwide.

Don’t miss what is sure to be a fascinating look behind the scenes at one of the largest entertainment businesses in our community and learn about the challenges they’re facing on a daily basis when it comes to protecting their brands from ever-present dangers.

AdFed Suncoast Presents “Get Me To The Geek”
Wednesday, June 17 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm
Gold Coast Eagle Distributing

There are almost too many reasons why you don’t want to miss this event. First of all, the venue is Gold Coast Eagle Distributing, which means free beer. Sure you have to pay to get in ($38 for members and $48 for non-members), but there will be food catered by the Polo Grill and we have a fantastic speaker.

Not only will Mr. McCampbell wow the audience with student work, but we will also learn how he helped transform Sarasota’s little art school over a 20-year period into the industry-leading computer animation talent powerhouse that Ringling College is today. If that’s not enough geeky-gamer fun, you will also have an opportunity to check out an Oculus Rift.

Last but certainly not least; you should attend this event to support our very own Lee Gaines. As incoming president of AdFed Suncoast, Lee and his new board of directors will be installed that night.

So whether you’re a fan of the circus or into computer animation, there are two must-attend events scheduled this week. Be sure to register online in advance, and I hope to see you there.

Until next week,

Matthew Anderson, President
Milestone Marketing Associates, Inc.
